Refining
Adding permanent DC, MC or SC to a weapon at the refining NPC
Hand a weapon to the NPC along with ingredient items and Black Iron Ore, pay a gold fee, then come back later to collect it. The ingredients decide which stat is added and heavily influence the chance of it working.
- Refines
- Weapons only
- Cost
- Weapon's required level × 10 × 125 gold
- Wait
- 120 minutes (2 hours)
- Ore required
- Black Iron Ore
- On success
- +1 to the chosen stat
- Critical
- 10% chance to multiply the gain by 2 (so +2)
Every ingredient's DC, MC and SC are totalled separately (min + max, plus anything already refined onto them). Whichever total is highest is the stat your weapon gains. Items carrying no DC, MC or SC are ignored entirely, and weapons cannot be used as ingredients.
Four parts added together, then reduced by refines already on the weapon. The best possible score is 100%.
| Source | Max | How it is earned |
|---|---|---|
| Base | +20% | Always given |
| Ingredients | +35% | Up to 10% from their stat total, +10% if their average required level is high enough, +10% if all are at full max durability, +5% if all are fully repaired |
| Ore | +35% | +15% for at least as much ore as ingredients, +15% for high enough average purity, +5% if total purity exactly matches the stat total |
| Luck | +10% | Weapon's Luck + 5 |
| Penalty | −50% | Every point already refined onto the weapon costs 6%, capped at 50% |
Ore purity is that ore's current durability divided by 1000. Add no ore, or no ingredient carrying DC/MC/SC, and the chance is zero — the attempt is wasted.
The roll happens when you collect, not when you hand it in. On failure the weapon returns unchanged: the gold and materials are lost, but the weapon itself is never destroyed or downgraded.
